Guru Arab Panat

You know, tadi I was wondering what to write about kan, and I was looking at my header. It occurred to me that I love my name. But I remember not liking my name when I was young, in primary school. That was time balum lagi berakal kali ah. That was the time when I thought people can just become pregnant by sleeping next to each other. I'll talk about that later!

Back then, only my family called me Jirin. Everyone else called me Khairul, or Kai. One time, a friend called up my house phone and asked for Khairul. The person who answered the phone said, "There is no Khairul here, but there's a Jirin." So since then 'Jirin' got spread around in school.

I have lots of other names too. At home, my nicknames include Kontoi, Thornton and Si Tumpah. Kontoi because I used to love playing remote control cars and I pronounced 'kereta kontrol' as kereta kontoi. Sekali Kontoi tia ku kana galar. I was what, ampat tahun? Lima tahun? Inda kan tarus tambus becakap ani. Jadinya lapas aku lahir atu kali ku pandai becakap tarus? Apalah! Kontoi didn't stick around for too long though. Imagine if it did, bida tu eh. Kontoi.blogspot.com? Umm, no. Heheh.

Si Tumpah because whenever my family and I were out at a restaurant, I always tend to spill my drink. Not spill, but tumpah. They claim that it happens all the time, but from what I can recall, dalam sembilan sepuluh kali jua ganya. Bulih. Aku damit wah tu masa atu. Sengaja ku kali menumpahkan minuman? Suka ku kali? Hehehe, gauk wah aku atu. Di kadai makan pun kan beulah.

Thorton, or Tonton, because there was a character on McGyver who looked like me (when I was young, not now, not anymore!). His real name was Dana Elcar (who died last year at age 77). My friend Anisah claims that I look like Ron Livingston but I don't see it. But, I see his resemblance with Dana Elcar!

Jirin simply because orang Brunei payah kan menyabut huruf 'Z', especially orang tua-tua. Bepulas-pulas saja lidah durang. Tapi I'm glad it's Jirin though, I mean, I wouldn't want to be called Zirin. Wahaha, gay bunyinya! Tapi ada jua nini-nini saudara ku memanggil aku Girin. Ada jua some people inda pandai menyabut huruf 'J', like 'biji' will turn out to become 'bigi'.

Speaking of names, my science teacher liked my name so much she planned to name the son she was carrying after my name. She said that she liked the name Khairul Hazirin. Aku being a Leo, kambang lah. Haha, padahal sekadar nama jua ganya. Bukan jua aku mencipta. Haha. Bangga wah aku ah. Anyway, so she told me she was so going to name his son Khairul Hazirin.

After she gave birth to her son, I would ask her if she did name her son after me and she kept changing the topic every time I did; until one day when she slipped out her baby's real name. I was devastated, like I said, aku andang dramatic. Haha! Iatah tu nah, kambang lagi. Bangga lagi. Inda pulang jadi! So I asked her why kan. Apparently she went to a Sudanese teacher who taught Arabic Language and apparently, APPARENTLY, the name Hazirin means... 'SUKA BERSENDIRIAN'.

Baie. I want to believe that it doesn't mean that. I certainly don't like to be bersendirian. Kirakan aku ani loner lah? Padantah inda begalpren. Hahaha. Tapi baie. Aku? Suka bersendirian? Aku? AKU? Boleh lagi inda banar. Panat eh guru Arab ah. Antah dari sekulah mana kah ia belajar ah. Sekulah Arab Al-Panat kali.

Siapa belajar sekulah Arab ah, confirm kan dih erti nama ku ah. Hehe!

Adang tah
. Mental pulang ku memikirkan cikgu science ku inda jadi menamakan anaknya nama ku atu. Pecaya kamu, mana kami betagur sampai ani. Hahaha, eksen ku wah. Luan!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my sister!

Assalamualaikum.

Awu andangnya orang Brunei, nama bisai2 jadi inda. Nama panjang2 inda jua pedah, jadi 1 syllable jua lastnya. Worse, nama islam/melayu bisai2 kdang2 boleh tukar jadi nama omputih, yg kan glemer lah tu. Eg. Salbiah jadi Sally.., Fathan jadi Hans haha. Thats why we prefer short names and if people want to pendekan pun masih ada erti (Fauzah to Azah, asal jgn Pau haha). Still nininya call them Sodah (fauzah) and Sadah (Sarah) hehe..wat to do?
